IMPORTANT: The Optical Science and Technology Center and Microfabrication Facility are being retired after fall 2018 and their services reconfigured under the new Iowa Center for Research, Exploration, and Advanced Technology in Engineering and Sciences (Iowa-CREATES) and Materials Analysis, Testing, and Fabrication (MATFab) in the Iowa Advanced Technology Laboratories (IATL) in spring 2019. As a result, the OSTC/UIMF site will eventually be taken down. "Spin resonance in iron based superconductors"

Abstract:

Superconductivity refers to a phenomenon in which some materials loose their electrical resistance completely when cooled below a critical temperature. The resistance-free state is called as the superconducting state.
In the superconducting state of some materials a resonance like feature appears in the spin excitation spectrum as observed using the neutron scattering experiments. This appearance of spin resonance provides important  informations about the microscopic origin of superconductivity. In this talk I shall discuss the spin resonance in context of the recently discovered superconductivity in several iron based materials.
