IMPORTANT: The Optical Science and Technology Center and Microfabrication Facility are being retired after fall 2018 and their services reconfigured under the new Iowa Center for Research, Exploration, and Advanced Technology in Engineering and Sciences (Iowa-CREATES) and Materials Analysis, Testing, and Fabrication (MATFab) in the Iowa Advanced Technology Laboratories (IATL) in spring 2019. The OSTC Microfabrication Facility Open House will showcase, celebrate, and promote the interdisciplinary

central research facility and service center that provides access, hands-on training on state-of-the-art equipment

and education opportunities in the areas of micro and nanofabrication, metrology and device characterization.

It is an open-research facility serving the academic, industrial and governmental researchers across campus and

beyond. Key research areas enabled by this facility include optics, nanotechnology, sensors, micro- and nanoelectronics,

plasmonics, photovoltaics, spintronics, high-resolution spectroscopy, bio-medical.
