IMPORTANT: The Optical Science and Technology Center and Microfabrication Facility are being retired after fall 2018 and their services reconfigured under the new Iowa Center for Research, Exploration, and Advanced Technology in Engineering and Sciences (Iowa-CREATES) and Materials Analysis, Testing, and Fabrication (MATFab) in the Iowa Advanced Technology Laboratories (IATL) in spring 2019. As a result, the OSTC/UIMF site will eventually be taken down. Until then, please visit the Iowa-CREATES Website at, or read more about the new center at

UIMF participates in the National Nanotechnology Day

Monday, October 9, 2017

The UIMF is participating in the National Nanotechnology Day, on Oct 9, 12-2 pm. National Nanotechnology Day is an annual event featuring a series of community-led events and activities on or around October 9th to help raise awareness of nanotechnology, how it is currently used in products that enrich our daily lives, and the challenges and opportunities it holds for the future. This date, 10/9, pays homage to the nanometer scale, 10-9 meters. In partnership with the RAIN network, participants across the US will be able to connect to a real-time and remote lab session in the UIMF labs where we will be demonstrating various processes such as lithography, nano-coating and nano-imprint for various device fabrication and applications.
