IMPORTANT: The Optical Science and Technology Center and Microfabrication Facility are being retired after fall 2018 and their services reconfigured under the new Iowa Center for Research, Exploration, and Advanced Technology in Engineering and Sciences (Iowa-CREATES) and Materials Analysis, Testing, and Fabrication (MATFab) in the Iowa Advanced Technology Laboratories (IATL) in spring 2019. As a result, the OSTC/UIMF site will eventually be taken down. UIMF is a partner in RAIN (Remote Accessible Instruments for Nanotechnology)

 

"The UIMF is now a partner in RAIN (Remote Accessible Instruments for Nanotechnology) Initiative, http://www.nano4me.org/remoteaccess.

RAIN allows students to access and control various state-of-the-art instruments for Nanotechnology. The available remote access tools in this RAIN partnership will be the UIMF Raith Voyager and Oxford instruments, Dry-etching tools. Participants control the tools in real-time with the assistance of a lab instructor and obtain advise over video conferencing software.
